Summary
QCG-Portal delivers a wide range of features that can help to drive diverse application scenarios. Below, we try to summarise key areas where the provided functionality is particularly useful.
Batch execution of conventional computational models on HPC resources is one of the most common needs requested by scientists and engeeniers. QCG-Portal hides technical complexity related to command-line usage of such resources with a user-friendly GUI and automates all intermediate stages needed to perform computations on remote resource (e.g. authentication, data stageing, monitoring).
Often the support for running simulations in a batch mode is not sufficient. QCG-Portal features mechanism that allows to easily run graphical applications on remote resource with the screen forwarded to the web browser of a user.
Training and usage of AI models on supercomputers can be streamlined with the mechanisms provided by QCG-Portal and specifically crafted applications templates. QCG-Portal enables access to graphical interfaces of the models running remotely making their usage smooth and close to launching on desktop computers.
Jupyter Notebooks are a widely appreciated technology that streamlines experimentation and supports exploratory programming. QCG-Portal enhances this experience by enabling users to launch JupyterLab environments on HPC machines.
When an experiment requires the execution of numerous jobs, particularly those with interdependencies or dynamic characteristics, the limitations of mechanisms built into traditional queuing systems become evident. This problem can be effectively addressed through the specialised QCG-PilotJob executions supported by QCG-Portal.
In addition to lightweight QCG-PilotJob workflows, also full-scale, complex application workflows can be executed through QCG-Portal. This can be realised with built-in workflow engine or integration with external tools, like Airflow.
The majority of computational simulations require systematic verification, validation, and uncertainty quantification (VVUQ) to achieve the desired level of credibility. mUQSA toolbox, built on top of QCG-Portal, is an intuitive web platform for automated conducting of credibility analysis with validated algorithms.
With the recent research and technological achievements, Quantum computing become one of the most promising branches of computer science. Work on QCG is already well underway to support such calculations in a user-friendly manner.
